DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise and provide leadership and guidance to the QA Supervisor and QA/QC Technicians;
  • Maintain the HACCP and BRC programs including annual reassessment;
  • Review deviations trending, analyze the process, identify trends and anomalies, and continually evaluate plant programs from improvement/ follow-up;
  • Keep informed of food safety laws and regulations;
  • Ensure internal audits are carried out as per the schedule;
  • Review all paperwork from the Plant, including CCP records and US Pre-shipment reviews, as well as QA/QC Technicians Tasks Lists and swab results, etc.;
  • Ensure all specifications, procedures and Food Safety and Quality Systems (HACCP and BRC) are appropriately implemented in the Plant;
  • Assist with third-party audits, including implementing corrective actions for non-conformances identified;
  • Work with CFIA inspectors on a daily basis for CVS;
  • Present any relevant issues at the HACCP / BRC meeting weekly and work through them until completion;
  • Promote food safety and hygiene throughout the company and coordinate training for all staff in the Plant;
  • Provide all relevant documentation for exports to the export coordinator and oversee products for export, ensuring they meet export standards;
  • To take initiative and work to prevent process or product failures by working together with operations to drive continuous improvement of product quality;
  • Provide support/back-up to FSQA Manager.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • University degree in Food Science or other related fields, or equivalent relevant experience;
  • Minimum 2 years relevant work experience in the Quality Assurance field in the food industry;
  • Proficient knowledge of HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) systems;
  • Experience with BRC and advantage;
  • Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, Access, & PowerPoint;

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participating in internal and external quality audits and providing feedback on any issues and recommended corrective actions/preventative measures

REQUIREMENTS:

  • In depth knowledge of HACCP, BRC, SQF and other third-party food safety certification programs

SQF Practitioner manages, plans and coordinates the SQF program designed to ensure continuous production/service consistent with established standards.
