SQF Practitioner Opening

We are currently seeking an immediate hire for the position of SQF Practitioner for one of our industrial partners:

POSITION: SQF Practitioner

LOCATION: Mississauga, ON

JOB TYPE: Permanent, full time


SQF Practitioner manages, plans and coordinates the SQF program designed to ensure continuous production/service consistent with established standards. Responsible for developing, administering and maintaining applicable Food Safety Programs & Policies; implementation and continuous improvement of food safety and quality focused programs including but not limited to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), SQF Food Safety and Quality systems and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP).


  • Lead current quality assurance and food safety processes into one integrated process. This includes HACCP system, regulatory audits, quality systems review process (QSR), standard operating procedures (SOP’s), incoming ingredient inspections, product scoring, food safety internal audits, field complaints, standardized work instructions.
  • Develop and execute SQF plans to achieve/maintain SQF Certification at the facility and to meet all CFIA’s requirements related to food safety & quality,
  • Develop and maintain systems to assure compliance and take appropriate action to maintain the integrity of the SQF System requirements including Commitment, Document Control and Records, Specifications, Attaining Food Safety, Verification, Product Identification Trace and Recall, Incident Management, Food Safety Fundamentals – Building and Equipment Design and Construction, and Food Safety Fundamentals – Pre-requisite Programs.
  • Communicate to all employees and relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF Edition 8.0 System.
  • Manage finished product evaluation system and provide leadership to drive improvements in key customer/consumer Quality attributes.
  • Train, educate and coach, maintain all training records for critical food safety and quality requirements. Document and maintain training registry for all employees.
  • Oversee monitoring, verification, and validation activities that pre-requisite programs and SOP’s and SSOP’s are effective
  • Provide guidance and leadership in situations where deviations have occurred, or a potential risk has been identified related to food safety and/or quality attributes.
  • Re-assess SQF plan whenever there is a change to program, process, procedure, ingredient, equipment, industry philosophy, technology, etc.
  • Oversee sanitation process.


  • Three (3) to (5) years of experience in the Quality Assurance/Food Safety field WITH at least one year focused in SQF role Requirements
  • Must be able to multi-task in fast-paced sometimes pressured situations.
  • Able to set and meet multiple and simultaneous deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and able to be an effective team player.
  • Able to set and meet multiple and simultaneous deadlines.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • SQF edition 8.0 course certificate is highly preferred.
  • HACCP certificate is required.
